The German-Ghanaian cooperation between the Klinikum rechts der Isar Munich and the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) aims to improve the hygienic standards and intensive care in the Kumasi and Ashanti regions in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic in a sustainable manner.\r

The direct target group consists of doctors and nurses as well as medical-technical staff at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) and in regional health centers in the Ashanti region and neighboring districts. The indirect target groups are COVID-19 positive patients and other intensive care patients at KATH and in district hospitals as well as in regional health centers in the Ashanti region. \r

Project activities include active measures to protect healthcare workers and high-risk groups through the purchase of personal protective equipment. Training courses will also be provided on triage, hospital hygiene and intensive care patient care according to WHO standards and national strategies. Appropriate medical oxygen ventilators will also be acquired and integrated into the workflow through intensive training sessions. To ensure proper instruction and the proper maintenance of the available equipment, a personal evaluation will be conducted by the staff of the Klinikum rechts der Isar on-site.\r
