Altmühlseeklinik Hensoltshöhe hospital in Gunzenhausen and the public-benefit organisation Hospital Fund for the Poltava Region are supporting Poltava Regional Hospital in setting up and expanding a centre for rehabilitation medicine. The objective is to enable the hospital to carry out professional and high-quality medical rehabilitation measures. \r
\r
Background:\r
Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine has led to a huge number of casualties who have suffered amputations and severe orthopaedic damage. These physical injuries are often accompanied by psychological and psychosomatic damage among victims and their families. At present, there are hardly any medical facilities that can provide quality-assured and evidence-based medical rehabilitation services for these groups.\r
\r
Activities:\r
-\tEquipping the pilot rehabilitation centre with rehabilitation training equipment that meets modern \r
quality standards\r
-\tConducting (online) training for hospital staff on evidence-based and quality-assured care for \r
rehabilitation patients \r
-\tDeveloping rehabilitation therapy modules so that the rehabilitation process can be reliably \r
documented in the hospital’s information system and in order to visualise the progress made by \r
patients\r
\r
Results: \r
The project helps ensure that as many people as possible who have been injured as a result of the war, whether as members of the armed forces or as civilians, are given the opportunity to fully recover through professional rehabilitation.\r
