The hospital partnership is composed of the University Medical Center Rostock and the two Guinean project partners, the Hôpital Régional de Kindia and the Laboratoire médical Guinéo-Allemand. The aim of this project is to strengthen infection control, medical skills and patient care with regard to COVID-19 and other epidemic diseases.

Project activities include joint trainings on infection prevention, clinical management of COVID-19 and other epidemic infections, and improved diagnostics through the introduction of novel rapid tests that are based on isothermal amplification. Furthermore, the intensive medical surveillance of critically ill infected patients will be improved and notifiable diseases will be identified in an optimised manner in the future by linking the regional hospitals and, if necessary, other health care facilities in the partner regions to the central DHIS-2 reporting system. Moreover, a waste incinerator of the \"de Montfort\" type will be installed at the Hôpital Régional de Kindia.

There is a close cooperation with the Hôpital Régional de Bafoussam, the Regional Hospital Limbe and the Regional Hospital Bamenda in Cameroon, which corresponds to a South-South cooperation. A corresponding application of the University of Rostock with the Cameroonian partner organisations has also been submitted and was recommended as worthy of support.
