The last three and a half years of war have left deep scars on the mental health of many people in Ukraine. According to the WHO, 68% of the Ukrainian population report a deterioration in their health. Mental health is the most severely affected.

To support those affected in their everyday lives, the clinic partnership between Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin and a total of 47 participating medical institutions in Germany and Ukraine has developed the Solomiya app. It offers easily accessible self-help for chronic stress, sleep problems, anxiety and mental exhaustion. The app combines relaxation exercises, psychoeducational content based on cognitive behavioural therapy and a weekly mood check-in, as Dr Valentyna Mazhbyts, psychiatrist and psychotherapist, emphasises:

„To make help accessible to everyone, we have combined scientifically proven relaxation techniques, high-quality psychoeducational multimedia content, and interactive exercises that promote the restoration of inner balance in SOLOMIYA — all in the form of a convenient, free mobile tool that can be easily adapted to personal needs and lifestyle. SOLOMIYA is your step towards psychological resilience, even in the most difficult times.“

Solomiya thus supports not only Ukrainians, but all people who want to better understand how stress affects the body and what strengthens their own mental health. Professionals such as psychologists, doctors and social workers can also use the app as a complementary tool.
