Children's and Youth Hospital ‘Auf der Bult’ in Hanover, Germany, and the paediatric and plastic surgery departments of the University of Monastir and the University of Tunis El Manar, both in Tunisia, have already worked together in the field of burn injuries and reconstructive plastic surgery for children with severe burn and scald injuries. The partners are continuing previous training in cooperation with the Department of Plastic, Aesthetic, Hand and Reconstructive Surgery at Hannover Medical School (MMH).\r

Both Tunisian partners already have experience in the treatment of adult patients with severe burns and have the necessary technical equipment and personnel. The partnership’s previous work will now be complemented to include care for paediatric patients.\r

Treatment for children with severe burns is improved in Monastir and Tunis, and further training is conducted and teaching materials distributed more widely to disseminate the required knowledge beyond the borders of Tunisia.
