This project between Pius-Hospital Oldenburg and the Faculty of Medicine at Srinakharinwirot University in Thailand involves setting up a training centre for gynaecological endoscopy and improving the quality of training in minimally invasive surgery. \r

Background: \r
Endoscopic procedures offer many benefits in the field of gynaecology and are thus increasingly becoming the norm around the world. HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Medical Center, the teaching hospital of Srinakharinwirot University, also intends to replace more conventional operations with endoscopic procedures, but it lacks a training centre for this purpose. It also requires staff to serve as instructors and teach the knowledge required to carry out endoscopic surgery.\r

Activities:\r\n˗\tEstablishment of a training centre and procurement of simulators and training equipment for endoscopic procedures\r\n˗\tWorkshops for at least 50 novices and physicians with advanced skills performing endoscopic surgery\r\n˗\tTraining for a least five surgeons offering training, including short-term placements in Europe for two surgeons\r\n˗\tWorkshops for at least six surgical assistants, nurses or medical technicians on the correct use and maintenance of endoscopic equipment and on technical troubleshooting during surgery \r

Medical students, surgeons and surgical assistants have improved their skills in carrying out endoscopic procedures. The training centre offers good opportunities for ongoing practical training.
