The partnership between the Deutschen Krebsgesellschaft e.V. (German Cancer Association) and the Istanbul Oncology Hospital (IOH) aims to develop a certified breast cancer center at the partner hospital in order to improve the quality of care for patients with breast cancer.
Problem: Oncology treatment guidelines play a large role in the quality of cancer treatment. In Turkey, these suggestions are insufficiently established.
Main Activities: The oncological structures in the partner country are analyzed. A software for tumor documentation has been organized to completely and consistently document oncological treatment cases. Personnel trainings within coaching workshops and on-the-job trainings are planned.
Short-Term Effects: The Istanbul Oncology Hospital completes the certification with the prerequisites. The certification system is adapted to the Turkish health system.
Long-Term Effects: The establishment of the certification program strives to reach the entirety of Turkey and allows for better care of patients with oncological diseases.
