Salem-Kolonyi Hospital (SHA) and German Doctors (GD) e.V. are working together to establish high-quality health care for the low-income rural population in Mbale, Uganda. The clinic partnership focuses on mother-child health. Background: Uganda's health sector development plan aims for a healthy population by 2040. In order to improve general health care, the skills, knowledge and motivation of health workers have been identified as key factors. Activities: - Observation of 12 German doctors at SHA: training at Salem School of Nursing and accompaniment in daily clinic routine - Introduction of online teaching opportunities at Salem School of Nursing - Participation of SHA administrative and management staff in online courses (human resource management, project management, fundraising, finance) - Exchange with DG facility in Nairobi, Kenya, to present revenue opportunities through an eye or dental clinic - Visit of SHA staff to Germany to strengthen cooperation Impact: The partnership between SHA and DGs has broadened the skills of health workers. SHA provides quality health services, especially in maternal-child health, to the rural low-income population. This has relieved the regional state hospital.
