In the hospital partnership between the Cardinal Rugambwa Hospital (CRH) in the north of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, and the Evangelisches Krankenhaus Alsterdorf in Hamburg, knowledge about the diagnosis and treatment of epilepsy is shared. The hospital partners think about their personal attitudes towards people with epilepsy and\/or a disability.

Context:
There is a great need for specialist treatment for people with epilepsy and\/or a disability in Tanzania. Nevertheless many people go untreated because they are stigmatised in society and their relatives hide them away. This limits their participation in society. People with epilepsy and\/or a disability are therefore a vulnerable population group for which health care provision is inadequate.

Activities:
-\tTransfer of knowledge on diagnosis and treatment of epilepsy
-\tPurchase of an EEG machine and training doctors and neuropsychologists at CRH on how to use it
-\tTemporary placements for CRH doctors, nursing staff and therapists at the Epilepsy Center in Hamburg
-\tEstablishment of an epilepsy surgery at CRH
-\tJoint online case discussions

Result:
People with epilepsy and\/or a disability will have access to a diagnostic and treatment service at CRH. This increases their participation in society.
