The partnership between UKALO-Aufwärts e.V. and the National Health Care Foundation Nepal are working together to quantitatively and qualitatively strengthen the NEO Health Clinic laboratory in Kathmandu.
Problem: The NeoHealthClinic & Lab cares for approximately 500 patients per month. The hospital can only carry-out a limited analyses spectrum for laboratory diagnostics. Insufficient water quality and limited electricity poses great challenges in regards to quality assurance.
Main Activities Within the partnership, workshops are delivered in Nepal and in Germany. There, laboratory directors and personnel as well as doctors and technicians obtain skills in quality management and water treatment techniques. A priority is also developing quality management standards for the NEOHealthClinic&Lab. A study visit in Germany for the Nepalese laboratory directors and personnel for in-depth learning opportunities has been planned.
Short-Term Effects: A structured quality management and trained personnel ensure diagnostics and therapies in the new laboratory. The therapy quality is increasing for the patients in the NEO Health Clinic.
Long-Term Effects: Within two years, the laboratory should be able to sustain itself financially. The spectrum of diagnostic and therapeutic activities will be further expanded.
