The partnership between the association Help Liberia – Kpon Ma e.V. and the eponymous association in Liberia pursues the goal of improving health care in rural parts of Liberia and making health services accessible to the population.
Problem: At the end of the Liberian civil war in 2004 the country’s health system and administrative structures were largely destroyed. Today health care continues to be weakened by the lack of expertise in the field of health service management, the shortage of medical personnel and the limited infrastructure.
Main activities: Colleague-to-colleague dialogue paired with further and advanced training for Liberian health service staff in two rural health facilities are improving medical care for the rural population.
Short-term results: The partnership project helps optimise the care situation by improving access to medical health services for the rural population.
Long-term results: Improvements in health care impact positively on the general health situation and reduce mortality and morbidity rates.
