The partnership between the association Solidarität Mnero e.V. and the Catholic Diocese of Lindi in Tanzania pursues the goal of improving the quality of treatment for patients in three Tanzanian partner hospitals.
Problem: A large percentage of the Tanzanian population has no access to appropriate health care. The reasons for this include inadequately trained staff as well as the poor equipment of health facilities. The consequences are high maternal, child and infant mortality rates as well as avoidable deaths resulting from infectious diseases.
Main activities: The main focus of the project is on sharing expertise between medical and nursing professionals in the form of training in areas such as surgery, anaesthetics, internal medicine and gynaecology. In addition, managerial competence will be involved in the knowledge sharing.
Short-term results: The knowledge transfer of medical and nursing expertise is to enhance the quality of treatment.
Long-term results: Strengthening the facilities will enhance the health care available to the local population. Newly acquired managerial expertise and business knowledge will help ensure the long-term and sustainable existence of partner hospitals in Tanzania.
