The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) and the Nigerian Center for Disease Control (NCDC) are working together to rationalize antibiotic use through an Antimicrobial Stewardship (AMS) program in Nigeria. The project includes a scientific collaboration to digitize routine AMR data and several training sessions. Complementing this project, University and Hospital Partnerships in Africa (HKP) supports the collaboration between NCDC and its official partner bioMérieux. bioMérieux supports the laboratories of two major hospitals in Abuja by providing equipment and training.

The project is funded by the GIZ regional program HKP. The aim of this program is to train healthcare professionals of the future and to strengthen state-of-the–art research on topics relevant to global health.
