This partnership supports the creation of a specialized rehabilitation center aimed at helping children with cerebral palsy from vulnerable families gain holistic and professional assistance.
Goal\/Partnership\/ Relevance of the Partner Institution: The German association, Patengemeinschaft für hungernde Kinder e.V. alongside the NGO Pro-Vision support the development of a specialized rehabilitation center for children with disabilities in Tamil Nadu, India. The goal of this partnership is to improve the quality of life for children with cerebral palsy through holistic and professional assistance.
Problem: Cerebral palsy is a disorder of the nerves and muscles and causes permanent movement disorders, such as paralysis or limb slackness. These challenges require specialized neurorthopedic therapy, which should be implemented as quickly as possible. However, children with cerebral palsy in the Tamil Nadus region do not currently have access to such therapies.
Main Activities: Within this project, patient and therapy rooms in the rehabilitation center are renovated and new therapy devices are acquired. Indian therapists and doctors obtain trainings in the areas of therapy and therapy planning.
Short-Term Effects: Children with cerebral palsy are provided better therapy options through trained health care personnel.
Long-Term Effects: Indian colleagues will function as multiplicator teams. The rehabilitation center should also be an example for other centers in the r
