Next Thursday, on October 28th, the Else Kröner-Fresenius-Foundation (EKFS) will award this year's winner of the Else Kröner Fresenius Award for Development Cooperation in Medicine. This year's topic is "Epidemic Preparedness and Response". The €100,000 prize recognizes projects and individuals who are committed to improving medical care in developing countries. The award winner is Dr. Jean-Paul Uvoyo Ulang, who works as a Country Medical Coordinator and regional health advisor for Malteser International in the Democratic Republic of Congo. His award-winning project focuses on "Community communication as key for Preparedness, Prevention and Response" in the northeast of the country. The award-winning project will already be presented next Tuesday, October 26th, during the World Health Summit.
